$909 to fund a Lettuce Grow Farmstand Hydroponic Gardening station
Hannah Richie, Auburn High School Gardening Club, requested funding for a Lettuce Grow Farmstand Hydroponic Gardening station for the Auburn High School. The farmstand will be used to educate members of the Gardening and Science Clubs on indoor hydroponic gardening and produce resulting from the project will be used or donated.

KEEP OPELIKA BEAUTIFUL
$970 to fund invasive plant removal and installation of garden boxes in the area surrounding the Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge
located at the Opelika City Park. Tipi Miller, Keep Opelika Beautiful, requested funding for invasive plant removal and installation of garden boxes in the area surrounding the Salem-Shotwell Covered Bridge located at the Opelika City Park. The bridge is located at the entrance to the Lee County Master Gardener’s Caroline Dean Wildflower Trail and will greatly improve the esthetics of the entrance, attracting more visitors in the demonstration garden. |
THE CURTIS HOUSE
$995 to facilitate education in vegetable growing and healthy eating at The Curtis House.
Tamarcus Milner, representing The Curtis House, a non-profit community service organization appealing to all age groups & providing food for low-income households, requested funding to facilitate education in vegetable growing and healthy eating at The Curtis House. Their request included gardening and culinary supplies needed for growing and harvesting vegetables in raised beds, and for teaching preparation of garden raised foods for consumption.

sanford middle school, lee county public schools
$1,000 for renovation of the Sanford Middle School landscape.
Heather Norred, Sanford Middle School Representative, requested funding for renovation of the Sanford Middle School landscape. The activity proposed the use of a large and diverse group of volunteers including the Student Garden Club, faculty, and parents.

CHEWACLA INVASIVE PLANT WORKING GROUP
$1,000 for tools, sprayers, herbicides, and protective gear. Gary Wagoner, Chewacla Invasive Plant Working Group, requested funding for tools, sprayers, herbicides, and protective gear to be used at the Chewacla State Park for removal/remediation of invasive plant species. The group will observe best practices procedures. Gary introduced us to the EDDMapSPro software that professionals use to record invasive species and various methods of control, including the Cut & Treat Method, the Basal Bark herbicide treatment (effective on 6" diameter) and the Do No Harm concept in nature. |
